Festivals

GOIZALDI carried out its first foreign performance in Pau (France) in the year 1949. Halfway from the decade of the 50 the preformances multiplied thanks to the job of Jose Ignacio Montes Astigarraga. The preformances abroad became custom inside the annual diary of GOIZALDI. In 1949, 1953 and 1954 France; in 1955 and 1956 the United Kingdom (Llangolen); in 1958 and 1959 Italy; in 1964 the Czech Republic; in 1968 Denmark; in 1969 Austria..

GOIZALDI has received numerous prizes in the contests and festivales in which has participated. Among others the first prize in Grisors (Normandy), that of Caceres (Spain), the second prize in Yorkshire (England).. One of the most important success achieved by GOIZALDI was in the International Musical Eisteddfod Festival of Llangollen in the year 1955 with a third prize, and a first prize obtained one more year afternoon. The jury was composed by the famous folklorists Violet Alfrod and Joel Martel. Because of that an exchange of letters was produced among GOIZALDI and Violet Alfrod around the Ezpata Dantza (Dance of Swords).

In those years GOIZALDI participated in the filming of a series of movies. Pluma al viento (Feather to the wind) (1952), Diez fusiles esperan (Ten rifles expect) (1958), Danzas en España (Dances in Spain( (1959), La Reina del Chanteclais (The Queen of the Chanteclais) (1962). In 1983 GOIZALDI received the first invitation to carry out a trip to United States. In 1984 the group participated in the Festival International of North Carolina. Three years later a second travel to the United States was produced, in this case to Boise (Idaho). They have been numerous the performances that through these 50 years has carried out abroad. From among the countries that GOIZALDI have known, one of the most peculiar is Lapland. In 1997 the group had the opportunity of participating in the Festival Justajaiset that was celebrated in Rovaniemi.

Special mention deserves the tour that carried out the group in the year 2000 in Argentina. During two weeks GOIZALDI visited the more important Euskal Etxeas of that country. The reception that offered us the basque diaspora will remain for ever in our hearts.
